Kyrgyz National University (KNU) is the oldest and largest higher education institution in the Kyrgyz Republic, originally established in 1925. Formerly known as Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University, it was officially renamed in 2003. With over 20,000 students, KNU counts among its alumni the former Prime Minister, the current Chairman of the Supreme Council, and many other political leaders of Kyrgyzstan.
